Lotus and Koi fish...
Started doing some free hand paintings on small canvas with acrylic paints, here comes the first one.
Lotus has always been one of my favorite flowers, specially when done in chinese style. I have done the Koi fish for the first time love them, they are really easy to paint.
This is done on a 10" x 10" canvas using acrylic paints.
As mentioned above, I have started working on a series of small paintings, so I will be doing posts more frequently and always leave your wonderful and inspiring comments.

Basket of Roses...
Sharing an old work of mine, the roses were made using crafts porcelian, and the twigs and basket were made using wire bought from Michaels. The frame was plain unfinished wood when I first bought it, it was not complementing the painting so painted the frame using acrylic paints.

Rajasthani Katputtli !!!
Made a set of three paintings as a gift to a friend of mine as she is moving into her new home.
I have used epoxy putti to make jewelry for the female puppets and turbans for the male ones.
I intention was to give her something colorful to brighten up her new home, so decided to do a painting inspired by the colors of Rajasthan.
Added mirrors to the center of the bird and for the eyes.

Peacock, acrylic on canvas...
A friend mine requested me to teach her daughter do some paintings as she wants to make a art wall in her new home showcasing the art work of both her daughters. When asked, the girl said she wishes to do a peacock. She really worked hard and has done a great job, so here is the picture of her hard work.
Imagine how hard it would have been for a first grader to do all those lines.

Contemporary Warli on a vase...
Lately I have come across some pics of Warli painting on vases, totally fell in love with the colors and composition. This one I made as a gift to one of our friends.
I bought the vase from Joann fabrics and used Martha Stewart stencil tape to make lines, I have never used the tape before,so was a little concerned on how it would turn out, thankfully there was no adhesive residue
and the lines have come out really clean.
Wait a couple of seconds after you apply the paint and then peel off the tape slowly, hola! perfect lines.I used normal acrylic paints from Michaels.
I would suggest sanding the vase a little as the surface is really smooth an not very absorbing, after finishing the whole painting I sadly realized that the paint can be easily scratched off from the vase, a little sanding might make the surface more absorbing, but I must say, I love the way it has turned out.
As Warli is a folk art I was not really careful while doing the painting, I feel the beauty in this particular art form lies not only in the simplicity and form but also in the crude style.
